Battle of the Bluebonnet Books

Students from the 6 elementary schools will be participating in the annual "Battle of the Bluebonnet Books" competition at the District Support Center each Spring Semester.

The NISD "Battle of the Bluebonnet Books" competition celebrates students who participate in the Texas Bluebonnet Award program, a statewide initiative that encourages 3rd - 6th grade students to read at least five of the 20 books included on the Bluebonnet Award master list and vote on their favorite title.

For this year's "Battle of the Bluebonnet Books": include students who took part in the Texas Bluebonnet Award Program, five from each participating campus, and an alternate student to represent their school and answer questions to demonstrate their knowledge and comprehension of the 20 Bluebonnet Award contenders.

The books considered for a Bluebonnet Award were selected by a committee of librarians from the Texas Library Association, while the "Battle of the Bluebonnet Books" competition is organized by the NISD elementary librarians.
