Brooks-Quinn-Jones Elementary organized a program full of performances, a formal presentation of colors and a reception on November 11 at 9 a.m.

Tina Lopez, an Army Reserve servicewoman, was the guest speaker for the event. Lopez told students about the importance of the armed forces, and specifically the importance of veterans. Lopez told the students that she decided to wear “everyday” clothes to show them that veterans are everywhere and that students may interact with them, even when they aren’t aware of it.

The BQJ Choir, directed by Claudia Sifuentes, performed three songs throughout the event followed by a signing/vocal reading of the Preamble to the United States Constitution by Mrs. Deckard’s class and the singing of Lee Greenwood’s “Proud to Be an American” by three fifth grade classes.

The event was broadcasted live to Pre-K thru fourth grade classrooms by the district Communications Department. The recording can be accessed on Nacogdoches ISD’s account by visiting and searching “Nacogdoches Independent School District.”
